Stop being locked out...
Get into where you want, when you want
In the old days the lockpicking took a slight hand and a ton of skill to manipulate the pins but with regard to many pin tumbler locks this technique is no longer necessary. You can do what is called lock bumping. It sounds a bit goofy and strange but is basically exactly as it sounds. This technique will usually require a specific type of key called a bump key. If you are pretty crafty and good with a tool you can fashion your very own bumpkey out of a typical key blank. There are some basic modifications that have to be made to the height and width of it but that can be covered later.
The general gist of lockbumping is inserting the key blank or bump key into the lock and tapping it with a forceful object be it a mallet or hammer or what not. Just as you do with a tension wrench, while bumping the blank you will put turning pressure on the lock and you will get in. Just about anyone can learn how to do this technique. We will not say that it is simple a monkey can do it but darn close. If you have spent hours and hours working on the traditional techniques for picking pin tumbler locks do not be upset since this technique, good as it may be, may not work in every case. You may have to rely on your skill and knowledge to bail you out and get you in.
There is all sorts of talk about manufacturers doing what they can to prevent lock bumping form being effective but many people argue that the higher quality the lock the easier this technique works. The best way to figure it out is to give it a shot. Find the explanations about how to fashion a bump key and get cracking. Have fun and stay safe.
